Real Talk with Annissa - Today's Reality in the Shipping of Valuables

Unfortunately, as many of you may know, reality clearly shows an increased uptick of claims across the board with all carriers. However, there are certain means of shipping that have made up a vast majority of the claims our members filed in the last 24+ months. USPS Priority (responsible for a very high percentage of the loss/theft claims) and both the UPS and FedEx Ground services (responsible for a very high percentage of the damage claims).

We highly recommend choosing wisely based on the above information and taking it into consideration for the items you're shipping.

If you have ever spoken with Elaine or myself, you know we are always sharing solid information that will help protect you and your valuables in your unique situations. We are always advocating for our members that follow our instructions because we go above and beyond any preconceived expectations of the insurance industry. We enjoy our mutually respectful relationships with our members and are dedicated to maintaining our standards as we all live through these trying times.

We take a proactive stance when it comes to our members and give recommendations and instructions to protect you from having to file claims on shipments containing rarities, one-of-a-kinds & irreplaceables.

There is a big difference between avoidable claims and unavoidable claims.

Unavoidable claims are exactly that - you've done everything ShipandInsure.com has given you for defense against a loss and you still suffered a theft or damage. That is what insurance is for.

Avoidable claims are a result of being careless and not being proactive to protect your shipment from loss or damage. Ignoring our warnings of current risks, choosing ineffective packaging and packing materials, not double boxing, no signature required, dropping shipments into drop-off boxes, etc. These losses are due to either lack of knowledge or negligence. We never want our members at risk of denial of claims!

This is exactly why ShipandInsure.com does what we do - We give you all the knowledge we can to help you protect yourself against losses of your valuables and one-of-a-kind items. We are in business due to the dire need of high-value shippers like jewelry/watch/antiques/coin/bullion/wide range of collectibles dealers, collectors, creators, wholesalers and retailers.

The raw truth is that, if people do not understand or ignore exclusions within insurance policies, this places all of us at risk of higher rates or (in the case of high valuables/collectibles) even no affordable shipping coverage options existing. The availability of coverage ultimately depends on us all responsibly working together!

IMPORTANT SIDE NOTE: If you have very high value package(s) showing as missing/not moving (outside of the expected holiday or inclement weather delays), we need the information on said shipment(s) immediately so we might be able to assign a hired investigator. There may be a chance of recovering these shipments but time is of the essence!

You will need to provide (via email) the following information in order for us to possibly recover missing shipments:
Carrier & means of shipping, Tracking#, a clear description of the contents along with pictures if you have them, a clear description of the box (type/color/size) & tape used, any unique marks, etc. if applicable, ship date, to & from ZIPs and any communications/information you have had with the carrier regarding this matter.
